TKB Smart-club, the joint intellectual project of AS „TRASTA KOMERCBANKA” and magazine “Otkritiy gorod”, was guested by Russian writer and radio journalist Alexander Genis, who used to live in Riga many years ago.
A. Genis is the author of many books and publications, e.g. "Amerikanskaya azbuka", "Vavilonskaya bashnya", and the co-author of "Russkaya kuhnya v izgnanii", "Rodnaya Rech", "Amerikana", written together with Pyotr Vail, another Russian writer.
At the meeting in TKB Smart-club Alexander Genis presented an excerpt from his yet unpublished work. The lovely, ironic language, his individual perception of things and events was highly appreciated by the attendees of the club. After the presentation Genis was asked a lot of question, he told about his life in exile in the United States, about the joint work with other writers: Sergey Dovlatov and Pyotr Vail, meetings with the famous philosopher Umberto Eco and dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. It turned out that in addition to his literary talent, Alexander Genis has also a talent for cooking. He told the Club visitors about his attempt once to create a project "Russian Soups." Some trial videos of this project are available on Youtube.com. By the way, he was talking about food so "deliciously" that the guests of the club even promoted the idea to invite the writer to a culinary master-class.

Moreover, in the course of the meeting the writer repeatedly affirmed his love for the city. In Riga, A. Genis managed also to meet his lectors and fellow students from the University of Latvia and his former colleagues from the newspaper "Sovetskaya molodyozh".
