Pavel Sheremet Visited TKB Smart-club

16.04.2015

TKB Smart-club, the joint intellectual project of AS „TRASTA KOMERCBANKA” and magazine “Otkritiy gorod”, was guested by Pavel Sheremet, the famous Russian and Belorussian journalist and news anchor. He worked as a TV presenter for Channel One Russia and Public Television of Russia (OTR).

Pavel Sheremet is known as an outspoken opponent of the regime of Belorussia’s president Alexander Lukashenko, for which, in 2010, Sheremet was deprived of Belorussian citizenship. Last year Pavel Sheremet left OTR explaining such decision by his position on the events in Ukraine.

The guest of TKB Smart-club came to the meeting from Kiev. For the last year he has been in the midst of Ukrainian events, so he is well informed and members of the club heard his opinion about the situation firsthand.

Sheremet told about the Ukrainian crisis, local business and the impact of the conflict on processes in Europe. The journalist sharply criticized Russian authorities and in particular the president of Russia. „I am not against Russia, I am against the policy of Putin”, told Sheremet. From his point of view, Putin wants to keep the power as long as possible.

After the performance of the guest a fierce debate began and visitors of the club asked the guest various questions.

Sheremet willingly agreed to give an interview to Baltkom radio 93,9 FM and to programme „Nekā personīga” on TV3 channel.

TKB Smart-club was established last year by AS “TRASTA KOMERCBANKA” together with the magazine "Otkritiy gorod". Many renowned people have already visited the club, e.g. Russian political analyst Fyodor Lukyanov, historian and publicist Leonid Mlechin, journalist and co-founder of NTV Evgeny Kiselev, actor and playwright Evgeny Grishkovets, political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky, TV journalist Marianna Maksimovsky and lawyer Mikhail Barshevsky. This year TKB continues to develop the Smart-club and to invite interesting guests, whose opinions may be different from the majority, but seem interesting to club members, TRASTA KOMERCBANKA clients, supporters of “Otkritiy gorod”, members of the private cigar club Churchill, and also for people from Latvia’s political and business circles.
