TKB Smart-club, the joint intellectual project of AS "TRASTA KOMERCBANKA" and the magazine "Otkritiy gorod", was guested by IgorJurgens, Russian economist, candidate of economic sciences.
Igor Jurgens is a member of the Institute of Contemporary Development, a professor at the Higher School of Economics as well as a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. He was re-elected as a president of All-Russian Union of Insurers in June 2013. Igor Jurgens is also a member of the board of trustees of Russian International Affairs Council and chairman of the "Baltic forum" supervisory board. Thanks to that he is well-informed about the live issues in the Baltic States.
Igor Jurgens was the editor of the textbook "Risk management", published in Moscow, 2003. He is an author of many publications in "Rossijskaja gazeta" and other Russian media.
At the meeting in the Smart-club the economist told about the possible development paths of Russia. He thinks that now Russia can choose from one of two paths – European or Eurasian. The scientist is sure that China will never consider Russia as an equal partner. "They even don't have a hieroglyph in Chinese which means "equal" or same age brothers, they only have older or younger brothers", said Jurgens. He also thinks that Western and Eastern countries should cooperate on the refugee problem and Syrian conflict, because such organisation as "Islamic State" is a threat for the whole world. As for Latvia Jurgens is sure that even though Latvian-Russian relations are tough right now, Russians will not sell their real estate in Latvia and will continue to visit our country. The whole interview with Igor Jurgens will be available in the magazine's "Otkritiy gorod" October issue.
TKB Smart-club was established last year by AS “TRASTA KOMERCBANKA” together with the magazine "Otkritiy gorod". Many renowned people have already visited the club, e.g. Russian political analyst Fyodor Lukyanov, historian and publicist Leonid Mlechin, journalist and co-founder of NTV Evgeny Kiselev, actor and playwright Evgeny Grishkovets, political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky, TV journalist Marianna Maksimovsky, lawyer Mikhail Barshevsky, journalist Pavel Sheremet, writer Alexander Genis and poet Igor Guberman. This year TKB continues to develop the Smart-club and to invite interesting guests, whose opinions may be different from the majority, but seem interesting to club members, TRASTA KOMERCBANKA clients, supporters of “Otkritiy gorod”, members of the private cigar club Churchill, and also for people from Latvia’s political and business circles.
